iOS 14 New Features

During its WWDC 2020 keynote, Apple announced iOS 14 for iPhone and iPod touch. The update brings a variety of new features and changes.

iOS 14 New Features

iOS 14 adds a new App Library view for organizing all of your apps. Apps are automatically organized in the App Library, and you don’t have to keep all of the icons on your actual home screen view. There is also a new list view as well as features for sorting applications based on usage and more.

New widgets are more data-rich than ever and come in a variety of sizes. They are accessible via the Today View, but can also be dragged out of Today View and onto the home screen. Apps move out of the way automatically to make room for the widgets. You access these widgets through the “Widget Gallery,” with multiple different sizing options.

iOS 14 also provides support for picture in picture, works very similar to the iPad experience. Siri has a new interface that does not overtake the entire screen.

A new translate app in iOS 14 is designed for conversations and works completely offline. All you have to do is tap on the microphone icon and the app will translate to your chosen language. There will be 11 languages supported at launch.

iOS 14 also adds a new App Clip feature to easily access applications quickly without downloading the full version from the App Store.

“Small part of an app that is quick and easy to access,” Federighi explains.

Launch an app with a single tap and pay and log in with Apple Pay and Sign in with Apple.

iPhone 12 in new navy blue color with iPhone 4-style design

The iPhone 12 is expected to feature an all-new design with flat edges similar to the iPad Pro, while also harkening back to the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 days. New renders this week imagine what the iPhone 12 might look like in a new navy blue color option.

So far, only one rumor has suggested that the iPhone 12 might be available in a new navy blue color option, though it would make sense. Apple introduced a new midnight green color with the iPhone 11, so it’s clearly interested in expanding beyond the normal lineup of colors. Whether or not navy blue would replace midnight green remains to be seen.

Even though the navy blue iPhone 12 is not widely corroborated as of right now, these renders provide some good eye candy of what we might be in store for this fall. The renders come courtesy of Svetapple and show the navy blue iPhone 12 alongside AirPods and MacBook Air.

These renders also imagine what a slightly smaller notch would look like this year. Bloomberg has said that the iPhone 12 notch will be smaller than the iPhone 11, with Apple working to eliminate the notch completely in future years. Over the weekend, iPhone 12 molds and CAD drawings hit the web, but these did not factor in a smaller notch design simply because that change doesn’t affect case makers.

Apple is expected to introduce four different iPhone 12 variations, including a 5.4-inch model, two 6.1-inch models, and a 6.7-inch option. All four are expected to feature this iPhone 4-like design as well as OLED and 5G connectivity. The iPhone 12 is expected to be released later than usual, though a staggered release throughout the fall is possible.

Reports say that the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 model will have a height that is “midway between the iPhone SE and iPhone 8,” while the 6.1-inch version will be midway between the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The 6.7-inch iPhone 12 will be “slightly taller than the iPhone 11 Pro Max.”

A supply chain report has also suggested that the iPhone 12 lineup will be thinner than the iPhone 11, with the largest iPhone 12 model coming in at 7.4mm thick. That’s around 10% thinner than the 8.1mm iPhone 11 Pro Max. Whether or not the rest of the iPhone 12 lineup will be slimmer remains to be seen.

iPhone SE Is “Faster Than The Fastest Android Phones”

Apple’s new iPhone SE is here; and it’s exactly what we were expecting it to be. That means there’s a super-quick CPU, a Home button, and a bargain price to boot.

Starting out with that chip, Apple has gone with the Apple A13 Bionic processor that powers the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro.

Samsung Silently Removes Old Apple iPhone Mocking Video Ads Following 3.5mm Jack Removal From Galaxy Note 10

Samsung has spent years mocking Apple for the iPhone’s lack of a headphone jack. It’s been part of ads, tweets, and any other media Samsung could think of. But now the headphone jack has been removed from the Galaxy Note 10 / 10+, Samsung has a problem.

Now that the Korean company has removed the headphone jack from its own flagship phone it’s in a sticky situation. What does it do with the years of insults it has thrown Apple’s way? It deletes them of course.

They’ve all been completely removed from the platform. Presumably someone at Samsung realized that the obvious was going to happen and that the company’s own ads were going to be used against it.

The removal of the headphone jack from the Galaxy Note 10 was smoothed over by Samsung when it said that it meant it could increase the device’s battery life.

The phones are known for having huge batteries thanks to the space afforded by also having huge screens. With a stylus to make room for, the phones apparently didn’t have any space left for the headphone jack.

Samsung does at least ship USB-C headphones in the box, although there is no USB-C to 3.5mm adapter for those who want to use their existing headphones. Those people will need to pick up an adapter for themselves.

Apple to release three ‘iPhone 11’ models this fall, including A13 chip, new Taptic Engine, & more

Similar to last year’s introduction of the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR, Apple will release three new ‘iPhone 11’ models this fall. The new iPhones will feature the Apple A13 chip, internally known by its platform codename Cebu, model T8030.

iPhone-11-Mockups

According to people who’ve seen the devices, all three iPhone 11models will still feature a Lightning port, contrary to some speculation that they would be moving to USB-C after the change on iPad Pro last year.

The ‘iPhone 11’ models are known as D42 (iPhone12,3) which will replace the iPhone XS; D43 (iPhone12,5) which will replace the iPhone XS Max; and N104 (iPhone12,1) which will replace the iPhone XR. D42 and D43 will have a 3x OLED Retina display, while N104 will still feature the 2x Liquid Retina display just like the current generation. All three iPhones will feature the same screen resolution as their predecessors.

This is ‘iPhone XS’ — design, larger version, and gold colors confirmed

IPHONE-XS

Earlier today Apple officially announced when and where it will hold its next big event. Apple’s September 12th event is expected to include the introduction of three new iPhones, and 9to5Mac can exclusively share the first look at both new 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED iPhones: the iPhone XS.

We believe that the new 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch iPhones will both be called iPhone XS. We also believe iPhone XS will come in a new gold color option not previously offered on the new design. Apple leaked its own gold version of the iPhone X through the FCC, but it has not been available to purchase.

Other details are still to be determined, but we can report with certainty that iPhone XS will be the name, the OLED model will come in two sizes including a larger version, and each will be offered in gold for the first time.

Apple is also expected to unveil the new Apple Watch Series 4 at the same media event. Stay tuned for more details in that space.

Apple will officially unveil the iPhone XS next month on September 12 and likely release both before the end of September.

Keyboard / Touch Bar Shortcuts To Toggle Dark Mode On macOS Mojave :)

Let’s get started.

Step 1: Launch the Automator app on your Mac followed by selecting New Document > Contextual Workflow > Choose.

Step 2: In the WorkFlow input drop down menu select No Input. You can also select an image to appear in your Touch Bar here, too.

Step 3: In the Actions search bar, type “Apple” and double click on Run AppleScript.

Step 4: Find the script box and delete everything that is in there. You need to replace it with the following string of text:

tell application “System Events”
tell appearance preferences
set dark mode to not dark mode
end tell
end tell

Note: If you want to test this out, click the Play button. Dark Mode should be enabled and disabled with each click.

Step 5:  Continuing on, select File followed by selecting Save and then giving the workflow a name. We suggest “Dark Mode”.

Now you are going to create a keyboard shortcut and if you don’t have a Touch Bar-equipped MacBook Pro, this is how you can enable or disable Dark Mode, too.

Step 6: Open System Preferences followed by Keyboards and finally, the Shortcuts tab.

Step 7: Select Services and look for Dark Mode in the list. Tick the box beside the entry and click Add Shortcut.

Step 8: Enter the keyboard combination that you’re going to use. Remember, this needs to be a unique combination so you can’t use anything that is already assigned.

That’s it! You can now use the assigned keyboard shortcut to toggle between standard and dark modes on macOS Mojave. That said, what if you wish to create a toggle like this for your MacBook Pro’s Touch Bar?

Create Dark Mode toggle shortcut for MacBook Pro Touch Bar:

Step 1: Head to System Preferences one last time, followed by Extensions and then Touch Bar.

Step 2: Make sure that the Dark Mode workflow is enabled and head back to Keyboard >Customize Controlstrip.

Step 3: Now you can simply drag your Dark Mode workflow into the Touch Bar, and you’ll be done!

Once all this is done you will be able to enable or disable Dark Mode at a keystroke or if you own a MacBook Pro with a Touch Bar, at the touch of a button. Sweet, isn’t it?

Siri Can Check You Bank Balance Now

siri-1200

If you’re an ING customer, you don’t even need to touch your iPhone to see how much you have in your bank account anymore. ING is the first Australian bank to offer Siri voice control, with more expected to follow suit.

“This latest development with Siri marks a major milestone in Australian consumer banking as it brings us one huge leap closer to making voice activated transactional banking a reality,” said Chris Barwick, ING’s Head of Digital and Innovation.

“In the future we want our customers to be able to use Siri for banking transactions such as transferring funds between accounts or making bill payments.”

Why is ING doing this? It says 69 per cent of it’s customers said they would use it – for things like checking their bank balance, transferring money and paying bills.

Nice.

Barwick says ING is “relentless” in developing new digital features “to help people bank in the most natural and convenient ways.”

If you’re using the ING Australia app on the latest version of iOS, you can say “Siri, what’s my balance?” or “Siri, how much do I have in my holiday savings account?”.

Hope to see this update in india soon 🙂
